Neuro Emotional Healing or (NEH) is a mind-body technique that uses a methodology of finding and removing emotional imbalances that may contribute to illness.
It’s important to note that NEH does not cure or heal the patient, but rather, NEH removes blocks to the natural vitalism of the body, “allowing” the body to repair itself naturally. Your mind has been shown to be a remarkable healing tool when provided the appropriate instructions. In NEH, we utilize the power of the subconscious mind to provide instructions to direct healing chemicals and energy to the parts of the body that are out of balance. We are able to remove emotional blocks that keep you stuck in patterns that perpetuate illness.
How Does NEH Work?
NEH is based on the physiological foundations of emotion-related responses. Psychoneuroimmunology is the study of how emotions impact your immune system, health and well-being. Candice Pert PhD, and Bruce Lipton PhD are pioneers in this scientific field of study.
Thoughts create, not only in the sense that your thoughts motivate you to action, but also that every thought or feeling creates your state of health and well-being. This startling new awareness has resulted in the emergence of a whole new field of medicine called Psychoneuroimmunology.
Scientists are now able to measure the physiological effects of your emotional states. Your body actually becomes weaker or stronger depending on your mental state!
Shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, anxiety, craving, anger and hate and produce the foundation for illness to thrive. Conversely, trust, optimism, willingness, acceptance, forgiveness, understanding, love, reverence, joy, and serenity can strengthen your body.
Recent medical studies prove that depression is a greater cause of heart disease than smoking. Researchers found that in depressed people the blood platelets became stickier.
Your bio-energetic process is a combination of verbal, intellectual, physical and psycho-emotional states of harmony or conflict. For instance, the left side of your body reflects the problem has its roots in your past, while the right side reflects how to feel about your future. This isn't conjecture. It is simply how the limbic brain functions.
Russian space scientists were the first to discover that every thought or feeling triggers the release of tiny chemical proteins called neuropeptides (NP's). American cellular biologist Candace Pert began to explore this phenomenon in the early 1970's. She outlined the critical role neuropeptides play in metabolic function.
Positive emotions will elicit beneficial NP's such as endorphins or oxytocin. Negative emotions will elicit NP's that are helpful when an immediate response or action is required, but become harmful when released over a prolonged period of time such as cortisol. We now that cortisol can increase not just belly fat but increased blood pressure, increased inflammation, imbalanced blood sugars and digestive problems.
An example of this is the stress hormones cortisol and adrenalin. These NP's trigger a 'fight-or-flight response.' That can be helpful if you need to defend yourself or run. But, over time, even low levels of stress hormones will begin to damage your body. So, any prolonged negative mental state will inevitably weaken your body. By the time you see physical symptoms, you've probably held that state of being for quite some time.
